Dear Supporter,
Last year, thanks to all your hard work, the Tatas agreed to talk to Greenpeace. Then they repeated their promise of stopping the port if there's evidence that it could harm the endangered Olive Ridley turtles. Then they committed to an independent study of their port's environmental impacts. But last week, something happened. The Tatas point-blank refused to stop construction while the study gets underway.

This is shocking.

Shocking because 98% of Tata's own customers polled recently think the port should stop now.

Shocking because nearly 1,00,000 of Tata's own customers have already written to Mr. Ratan Tata saying the port should stop now.

Shocking because over 200 scientists (25 of them from the Marine Turtle Specialist Group) say the port must stop now.

Shocking because while the turtles have already arrived to mate and lay eggs in the area, the port construction continues day and night.

Shocking, most of all, because the Tatas have not lived up to their promise to Greenpeace and their own customers.

It's February, and the turtles are here. How many will survive? How many will lay eggs? How many will come back again? It's all up to you.Send a fax directly to Mr. Ratan Tata and tell him that the port must stop now.
